Welcome to Catherine McAuley Catholic College, Medowie

Catherine McAuley Catholic College is a dynamic co-educational school for Years 7–12, proudly serving the Port Stephens area in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese. Guided by the vision and values of the Mercy tradition, we combine academic excellence with a strong sense of faith and community.

Our world-class facilities and innovative learning environments inspire curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Within our Catholic faith community, every student is supported to grow in knowledge, character, and spirit preparing them to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Catherine McAuley Catholic College welcomed its first Year 7 and 8 students in 2021 and has since grown to a student population of 950 students. In 2025, we celebrated and farewelled our inaugural Year 12 graduates.

Our campus features contemporary learning spaces across all Key Learning Areas and is part of a growing Catholic education precinct, alongside the existing St Nicholas Early Learning Centre and Catherine McAuley Primary School which opens in 2027. This unique setting offers families a seamless educational journey from early childhood through to Year 12.

The College motto, “United in Mercy,” reflects our commitment to the Mercy values of Faith in action, Courage, Compassion and Hospitality. The College crest proudly incorporates the Mercy Cross and elements of Worimi Country, symbolising our deep respect for the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand. Our values shape our strategic direction and are celebrated in every aspect of College life.

As a Catholic College, we nurture the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of every student. Religious education, prayer, liturgy, reflection days and retreats are integral to College life, creating a community where faith is lived and celebrated.

Catherine McAuley Catholic College offers some of the most advanced learning spaces available. Our campus includes flexible learning areas, cutting-edge technology and state of the art performance spaces all designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and wellbeing.

The College boasts a vibrant co-curricular program which spans a wide variety of sport, music, drama, dance, public speaking, and gifted education. Our students are supported by generous, passionate and highly qualified teachers and educators.

We welcome families of all backgrounds who value academic excellence and our Catholic ethos. The College and its families work in partnership to strive for our students to be confident, agile and reflective learners and confident future makers.
